Urban Effect on Sea-Breeze-Initiated Rainfall: A Case Study for Seoul Metropolitan Area

We examined the sea-breeze-initiated rainfall in Seoul Metropolitan area (SMA) on 6 July 2017 using weather research and forecasting (WRF) model. The model captures arrival of sea breeze front (SBF), development afternoon SMA, location maximum northeastern SMA reasonably well but overestimates subsequent rainfall. conducted sensitivity tests to better understand urban effect event. Through factor separation analysis, we first explicit role results show that interaction effects cause northwest northeast indicating both heat island circulation (UHIC) play an important study case’s further relative roughness anthropogenic through analysis. Both a increasing precipitation with larger contribution than roughness. relationship between low-level convergence at SBF factors is discussed.
